SV Tutorial: Widescreen Effect (Out-of-Date)

This tutorial is now out-of-date since YouTube implemented the widescreen play window.

*Sony Vegas 6.0.*
*This is assuming you're using NTSC, which may or may not matter in your case.*
This is a tutorial that shows how to create a widescreen effect out of a 4:3 fullscreen video. This is an easy one.
Since most of the cheap cameras that people on YouTube are likely to be using don't shoot actual widescreen WVGA (854x480), but rather just cut off the top and bottom of the screen to make it, you might as well just shoot everything in 4:3 fullscreen just so you can crop it to whatever aspect ratio you want later. Just try not to shoot things too close to the top and bottom of your view-finder, 'cause that would complicate things.
Why use widescreen at all? Because things typically look better that way, since your eyes actually see things wide.
Most professional movies are shot in actual 16:9 widescreen, so when you see the full-screen version, it's just cropping off the sides so it'll fit a 4:3 TV. Actually, most movies are displayed in 2.35:1, which is slightly wider than 16:9. I think it has something to do with the shape of a frame of film.
The music is "Barroom Ballet" by Kevin MacLeod,
